About Me

Hello, I’m Carlos Jiménez Duarte, creator of ChessEscape and founder of Saint Martin Games.

My life has been shaped by two great passions: art and video games. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Literature from the Pontifical Bolivarian University, and I am currently completing my training as a future Professional Software Engineer at Politécnico Grancolombiano University. I’ve always believed that philosophy and engineering meet at the same point: creativity placed at the service of life.

I am the author of the literary trilogy La Guerra Solar, which earned me the 2019 Wattys Award, and also wrote an earlier book titled Alumbramiento de una estrella (“Birth of a Star”), part of the saga El Renacer de los Astros (“The Rebirth of the Stars”), which from time to time calls me back to continue writing. Fantasy literature, along with cinema —especially Batman movies— have deeply nourished my imagination.

In the world of video games, I am passionate about Dofus, where my main character is Kiadez, leader of the Army of Combray. I play with multiple accounts, with a main team of Feca, Panda, Eliotrope, and Cra. That virtual world taught me that every battle is also a personal story, and it inspired me to create my own universes.

Away from my computer, I love taking walks with Willow, my inseparable canine companion 🐶. I also enjoy swimming, walking in nature, reading fantasy literature, and listening to good music: from metal that gives me energy, to instrumental or relaxing tunes that accompany me during development sessions. I also like to sleep well, eat well, and share a beer with friends —because I know creativity is also fueled by balance and by enjoying life.

With ChessEscape, I wanted to bring all these passions together —the strategy of video games, the strength of literature, and the symbolism of philosophy— in a digital work that not only entertains but also leaves a mark.
